ResponsibilityWe understand that people and organizations all over the globe need a helping hand, and we believe that it's our obligation to be generous with our resources. That's why we are proud to give 10% of our pre-tax profits to charitable organizations and why we encourage our employees to lend their hands in community service projects. Our goal is to improve and help those around us; and we don't just think about helping, we do it. Here's a partial list of organizations and activities we are privileged to support:Haiti outreach through Food for the Poor - Food for the Poor is the number one international relief and development charity in the United States, feeding 2 million poor people every day. Haiti has long been considered the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Today, the vast majority of Haitians live at the lowest economic level and many suffer from a lack of food and medical care. An estimated 80 percent live in abject poverty. More than half of the population, including two-thirds of the children, suffer from malnutrition. About 76 of every 1,000 children die before reaching their fifth birthday. Bankcard Service Worldwide was able to send a trailer filled with food and medicine to the poorest of the poor in Haiti. Second Harvest Heartland - Second Harvest is the Upper Midwest's largest hunger-relief organization, striving to end hunger through community partnerships and serving the hungry in 59 counties throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Second Harvest Heartland operates the fourth largest Feeding America member food bank in the United States, helping feed 77% of the hungry in their service area. In 2010, Bankcard Services Worldwide has donated money to help fight against hunger in the Midwest. Wheels To Wander - Founded by Jay and Laurie Bruber, Wheels to Wander provides handicapped accessible vans to children with disabilities in low income families. These modified vans allow special needs children the opportunity to travel with their families and also provide desperately needed transportation to and from doctor/hospital appointments. Wheels to Wander has also provided vans to severely ill children traveling to other cities for life-saving treatments. 100% of all donations go into the development of these vehicles, giving the next special child their "wheels to wander". |
